score for a webcomic

As I've been wending my way through Homestuck, I've more than once thought, Hey, this music is surprisingly good for a webcomic. Which is unkind, really, because it's quite good regardless of its being from a webcomic. And yesterday I actually stepped away from the comic long enough to go to the Music link in the navigation strip. Not only is the music quite good; there is a LOT of it, eighteen releases total.

"Blackest Heart (With Honks)" is one I listened to on YouTube before reaching that point in the plot. And then I reached that point in the plot this evening. Sitting in the dark. It's an ... effective bit of scoring.

I'm also quite fond of "Black", which is a bit Halloween, a bit jazz band, a lot video game.

And "Pony Chorale" because it's kind of endearing and forlorn at the same time.

I'm not sure why LJ is sending out Twitter notifications for an entry I wrote weeks ago, while ignoring the entry I just wrote. But I think I just fixed it. Let's test that theory.

roasted

I was considering watching the Charlie Sheen roast last night, and then I remembered I could be doing something far more worthwhile--like sleeping. I've been trying to pinpoint what exactly feels off about the roasts Comedy Central has been hosting lately, and I've worked it out (for myself, at any rate).

It's because my notion about the novelty of a roast is that you can finally make fun of somebody that is otherwise well-respected, well-thought-of, and well-spoken-of. Charlie Sheen and Donald Trump are already the butt of every joke, and most people who watch Comedy Central don't think well of them. Isn't roasting them a bit like shooting fish in a barrel? You don't need to be a comedian to come up with ways to skewer either of them.

It would be a more interesting challenge to lampoon a decent comedian, and maybe give them a mic to bite back when the inspiration hits.
